Super Sprint Grand Prix Oceanside

This weekend will be the test event for the new triathlon Super Sprint Grand Prix series that will be coming to the US next year. It will hands down be the most exciting, spectator friendly event the sport in the States has ever seen. This weekend's race will consist of 300m swim/5mi bike/1.5mi run and then do it again. That's right 5 transitions, six legs, all at a full gas sprint. Check out the website for details at:

The course will be as close to NASCAR as triathlon can get with tons of turns, accelerations, and lots and lots of speed. Some of the best in the world from all distances will be there including Macca, coming off Kona win #2, 3 Oympians in Shoemaker, Reed, and Ospily, along with a cast of young guns including myself, Ben Collins, and Steve Sexton.

Should be great racing, and if you are in the San Diego area come up to the Oceanside Pier and check it out.

Also, on a much sadder not my belated condolences to the Crippen family and USA swimming. Fran's death was the saddest thing I have ever heard about in the sports world as it seems it would have been so easily prevented!!
